What is sustainable floristry?

Sustainable floristry focuses on minimizing the environmental impact of the floral industry. This includes practices like choosing local flowers, composting, and using reusable/compostable mechanics.

Why support sustainable floristry?

Sustainable floristry reduces carbon emissions and single-use plastics while supporting local farmers and the local economy. Local flowers also tend to be fresher, more unique, and have less pesticides on them.

How does To the Moon Floral Design practice sustainability?

First, I prioritize sourcing my flowers locally as much as possible before using internationally imported flowers. I also use mechanics like the Oshun Pouch, chicken wire, and flower frogs which allow me to create high-quality designs without compromising flower hydration. Additionally, many of my vases and vessels are thoughtfully curated from places like Oh Flora Store, local artisans, or found secondhand. After your event ends, I compost or donate remaining flowers so nothing goes to waste!
